"What I remember", notes by Mrs. J. T. McDonald of her life in Victoria and later in Queensland, 1845-1928. Includes accounts of time spent in Barfold, near Kyneton, her husbnad's work (J. T. McDonald, surveyor of McDonald's Track, 1862), and the effect of the "Berry Blight" of 1878 on the fortunes of her family. Also two letters, 2 January 1945 and 22 January 1945 re the depositing of the notes with the Country Roads Board. Letter of 2 Jan. 1945 is from Dr. S.F. McDonald of Brisbane (Mrs McDonald's son0 re sending the notes to the C.R.B. Letter of 22 Jan. 1945 is an acknowledgement of the gift by the C.R.B.

Mrs McDonald was born in Barfold, Vic. in 1845. She and her family moved to Brisbane in 1879. She married in 1869. "Berry Blight" refers to incidents which took place during the premiership of Sir Graham Berry. Her husband lost his job as civil servant at this time.
